As part of its ongoing efforts to redevelop and enhance the city, the city of Richardson has approved a proposed project by Hermansen Land Development Inc. As part of the project, the Dallas-based development group will soon start working on a new restaurant public-private development on a stretch of land located at Belt Line Road and North Central Expressway. By bringing the new destination project to Richardson, city officials hope to expand restaurant offerings to home owners and visitors while also completing a key component to plans for redeveloping the city.

With plans to develop a five-acre plot of land, the new restaurant project is part of the city’s overall redevelopment strategy for the West Spring Valley Corridor. Once the home to an aging 1960’s-era Continental Inn, the tract of land has long sat vacant since the city demolished the inn and pieced together other parcels of land as part of its redevelopment plans.

While the process for redeveloping the land is already two years in the making, plans for the land are now seriously underway. In fact, Hermansen Land Development has already purchased the land from the city and has developed plans to build seven restaurants as well as a patio, a large plaza area and other pedestrian-friendly amenities.

The company is also in negotiations with national restaurant groups in order to finalize its offerings. Two restaurants have already been confirmed for the project. The first, The Rock Wood Fired Kitchen, is based out of Tacoma, Washington. The other, VertsKebap, is a fast-casual restaurant based out of Austin. Construction on the project is expected to begin within the next few weeks with the restaurants opening sometime in the middle of 2016.

Richardson Brings a Variety of Amenities to North Texas Home Owners

Located just north of Dallas, the city of Richardson already offers a number of amenities for North Texas home owners to enjoy. Not only is Richardson home to the state-of-the-art Charles W. Eisemann Center performance hall, but it also boasts an extensive park and trail system. While the new restaurant project being completed along the West Spring Valley Corridor will be a much-needed component of the redevelopment strategy for that area, the city is also home to a wide variety of restaurants and other entertainment options.

With a total population of around 100,000 residents, Richardson also serves as an important telecommunications hub for the area. Not only do more than 5,000 businesses have operations within the city’s borders, but it is also home to The University of Texas at Dallas. Some of the largest telecommunications companies in the world are headquartered in the city, including AT&T, Cisco Systems, Ericsson, Fujitsu, MetroPCS, Samsung, Texas Instruments and Verizon.

With all that it has to offer, it comes as no surprise that Richardson has previously been named one of the best places to live in the United States by Money magazine and one of the best places to raise kids by Business Week.
