If you enjoy swimming and running, the Open Water and Swim Aquathlon taking place in Little Elm may be just what you are looking for. With opportunities to swim and run for children as well as adults, the event promises to bring a whole lot of fun for those who enjoy spending active time outdoors.
Splash and Dash events, also referred to as Aquathlons, are becoming increasingly more popular. The running portion of these events may take place on a road, a trail or a path while the swimming portion can take place in any body of water. In the case of the Little Elm Open Water and Swim Aquathlon, the entire course is located within the Little Elm Beach area, Little Elm Park and Lake Lewisville. The run course is flat with no significant changes in elevation, though the surface does vary from paved to crushed granite.
Events taking place during the Open Water and Swim Aquathlon include:
Participants are allowed to wear wetsuits without penalty if the water temperatures are 78 degrees or lower. Participants may also wear a wet suit if the temperatures are greater than 78 degrees and less than 84 degrees, but they will not be eligible for prizes and awards. Participants will not be allowed to wear a wetsuit if the temperature is greater than 84 degrees.
To participate in the Open Water and Swim Aquathlon, all participants must pay a $30 registration fee. If you wait to sign up on the day of the event, the cost is $35 per participant. All participants will receive a goody bag at registration pickup and everyone who completes the event will receive a finisher award.
The Open Water and Swim Aquathlon will take place on July 19th. The event is sponsored by Punch Buggy Productions, which is a 501(C)(3) that strives to encourage the community to be active while also educating the public on healthy lifestyles and nutrition habits. The start time for kids participating in the event will be 6:30 am while the start time for adults will be 7:30 am. The event will take place at Little Elm Beach and Park located at 704 W. Eldorado Parkway in Little Elm, Texas.
