FC Dallas Footy 5K and Fun Run to Kick Off July 11th

The FC Dallas Foundation will hold its annual Footy 5K and Fun Run on July 11^th at 8:00 in the morning. Whether you are a serious runner or you just want to come out and have a good time, the event promises to provide a whole lot of fun while supporting a good cause.

About the FC Dallas Foundation

FC Dallas is a professional soccer club located in the suburb of Frisco. As one of the ten charter clubs of Major League Soccer (MLS), the club has been competing in the league since it was started in 1996. Prior to the 2005 season, the club was known as Dallas Burn.

The FC Dallas Foundation is the charitable arm of both FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium. The goal of the foundation is to have a positive impact on the health and well-being of disadvantaged youth. To achieve this goal, the foundation promotes a variety of programs. Among these are:

• The BR Heart Project: Promotes heart health through participating in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and other initiatives
• FCD Youth: Supports the PRACTICE program, which serves to promote character traits such as compassion and integrity
• Field Development: Builds turf soccer fields in low socio-economic areas in an effort to promote and facilitate an active lifestyle among area youth
• The Gear Up Project: Collects new and gently used soccer gear to distribute to needy individuals.
• Harper Fund Scholarship: Provides scholarships for children to play recreational soccer
• Kicks for Kids: Works with local nonprofits to serve at-risk children by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional soccer game at Toyota Stadium
• Special Olympics FC Dallas: Partnering with Special Olympics to compete against other Special Olympics teams of Major League Soccer.

In 2011, the FC Dallas Foundation apartnered with the Freddy Fund to construct a small-sided turf field at Maple Elementary School. The field was built in memory of Freddy Garcia, Jr., who was an FC Dallas youth player. To date, the foundation has dedicated three similar fields through the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Participating in the Footy 5K and Fun Run

The Footy 5K and Fun Run will take place at Toyota Stadium, which is located at 9200 World Cup Way in Frisco, Texas. The 5K event will take place at 8:00 am, while the Fun Run will begin at 8:30. Both events will start by the ticket office at the FC Dallas Toyota Stadium and will end by running through the tunnel onto the field stage.

All benefits from the event going to the FC Dallas Foundation. The cost to register for the race is $30 for the 5K and $20 for the Fun Run.
