Are you looking for a great place to cool down this summer? Or, perhaps you just want to get your boat or other watercraft out on the lake. Whatever your reason for wanting to head to the beach, the Dallas area has plenty of great options to choose from. Here’s a look at just a few of the beaches the Dallas area has to offer.

Burger’s Lake

Boasting one of the few spring-fed lakes the Dallas area has to offer, the one-acre Burger’s lake offers plenty of freshwater for cooling off. The chlorinated lake is also filtered and chemically maintained with the help of a state-of-the-art purification system.

The 30-acre Burger’s Lake park features two sandy beaches, more than 300 picnic tables and charcoal grills. It also boasts six diving boards, a 20-foot slide, a 25-foot trapeze and certified lifeguards. Inner tube rental is also available, while volleyball courts are located on both the sand and the grass.

Burger’s Lake is open seven days a week from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm from Mother’s Day through Labor Day. Admission to the park is $15 per person, though children six and under are admitted for $5 and children younger than one get in for free.

Burger’s Lake is located at 1200 Meandering Road in Fort Worth, Texas.

Joe Pool Lake

Constructed after 25 years of planning, Joe Pool Lake was opened to the public in 1989. Since then, the lake has become a popular choice among water aficionados and wildlife viewers. Fed by the waters of Walnut and Mountain creeks, the 7,400-acre Joe Pool lake is one of the few Texas lakes to flow north. In addition to offering a concession stand, the park boasts covered picnic tables and a playground for the little ones. The park even has campsites and cabins for those who wish to stay a little longer to explore all 60 miles of shoreline the lake has to offer. Entrance to the park is free for Grand Prairie residents and $10 for non-residents.

Joe Pool Lake is located at 5700 Lake Ridge Parkway in Grand Prairie, Texas.

White Rock Lake

Featuring a 1,015-acre lake, White Rock Lake is a popular location for those who enjoy water sports. It is also frequented by both runners and bikers looking for a scenic place to exercise. Not only do the park’s 9.33 miles of hiking and biking trails offer spectacular views, but the Bath House Cultural Center is also located around the lake. The Dallas Arboretum and the White Rock Lake Museum are also located on the same grounds as the lake. For dog lovers, the recently-opened dog park is another fine attraction found at the park. Kayak rentals are available, while the parks boat ramps and piers offer ample opportunity for getting out to enjoy the water.

White Rock Lake is located at 1152 North Buckner Boulevard approximately five miles northeast of downtown Dallas.
