Fort Worth’s Rockin’ the River Music Series will kick off this year on Thursday, June 25th with events taking place from 4:30 pm to 10:00 PM. The annual event, which combines music with the fun of tubing on the Trinity River, is completely free and offers plenty of fun for the whole family. While the start date of the series had to be delayed due to recent funding, it is still scheduled to take place this summer with special events taking place each week.

The Rockin’ the River Music Series invites guests to float on the Trinity River as they watch a live music performance. Those who prefer to stay out of the water can bring a blanket or chair to watch the show from land.

Each night, the gates open at 4:30 pm with the headliner playing from 6:45 to 8:15 on the Coors Waterfront Stage. The water has to be cleared at this time in preparation for the fireworks show, which takes place at 9:30. From 8:30 to 9:30, an after party band provides additional entertainment on the Southshore Stage. This year’s scheduled performers include:

  • June 25: Mike & The Moonpies followed by Troy Cartwright
  • July 2: The Land Sharks (A Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band) followed by Shotgun Friday
  • July 9: Shane Smith & The Saints followed by Stewart Mann & The Statesboro Revue
  • July 16: The Dirty River Boys followed by Ray Johnston Band
  • July 23: Dolly Shine followed by Parker McCollum
  • July 30: The Damn Quails followed by Casey Berry
  • August 6: Sam Riggs followed by Aaron Einhouse
  • August 13: Cody Canada & The Departed followed by Grady Spencer & The Work
  • August 20: Prophets & Outlaws followed by Midnight River Choir
  • August 27: Brandon Jenkins followed by Chance Anderson

To watch the show from the water, you are welcome to bring a tube, paddle board, kayak or other floatation device. Food and beverages can also be purchased on-site. The series takes place at Panther Island Pavilion, which is located at 395 Purcey Street in Fort Worth, Texas.

Expanding the Fun with Sunday Funday

If you can’t make it to the music series or if you simply want to have more fun during the week, you might want to come to the Sunday Funday event kicking off on June 28th. The family-friendly event will feature tubing, kayak/canoe/SUP rental opportunities, craft beer, SUP yoga, disc golf and other activities. Food and beverages will also be available from a variety of vendors. Sunday Fundays will take place every Sunday from noon to 6:00 pm from June 28th through August 30th.

The Panther Island Pavilion, which is where both of these events take place, is a venue located on the Trinity River. It hosts a variety of concerts and festivals throughout the year and serves as the area’s hub for water sports such as kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding. The venue also has a beach that is open seven days a week to the public.
