The National Veterans Wheelchair Games will take place this year in and around Dallas from June 21st through June 26th. Presented by the Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America, the annual event is meant to provide injured Veterans with the opportunity to participate in sporting events while raising money and awareness for Veteran charities and causes.

The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is meant to empower Veterans who have suffered from serious injuries. Those who participate in the games include those with spinal cord injuries, amputations, multiple sclerosis and other neurological injuries. In addition to providing these Vets with recreational opportunities, the games are also meant to help encourage them to live active and healthy lifestyles.

The games have been taking place for 35 years with the event taking place at different locations throughout the country each year. This year, the program will come to Dallas for the second time in the history of the events. The previous time it was held in Dallas was in 1986 when 360 athletes participated. The event has been held in Texas three other times, with each of these events taking place in San Antonio. These events took place in 1988, 1993 and 2000.
