Lower Greenville is predominantly an entertainment area with restaurants, bars and music venues, so parks are not a focus of this area.
South of Mockingbird Lane, there are a number of bars and restaurants in Lower Greenville. The Historica Granada Theatre is a very popular place to see concerts and live music acts. It was voted the most popular live music venue in Dallas by the Dallas Observer from 2007-2009. There is also an annual St. Patrick’s Day block party in Lower Greenville that is popular amongst residents throughout Dallas.
Bars, restaurants, boutiques, and music venues characterize Lower Greenville. Popular places include Stan’s Blue Note, The Winedale Tavern, Blue Goose Cantina, and Dodie’s New Orleans Seafood. The Granada Theatre is another major attraction in the area, dating to 1946. The theatre has been maintained impeccably, and still resembles illustrations of it from decades gone by.
Greenville Avenue used to be the most important thoroughfare in Dallas before the US 75 was built. Before US 75 was built, Greenville Avenue was the main way to reach Richardson, Plano, McKinney and the states of Oklahoma and Arkansas. As such, Lower Greenville was developed with restaurants and shopping. The intersection Goodwin Avenue and Greenville Avenue is still a popular bar-going location today and has been since at least the 1930s.
