Location:

Lochwood is a residential neighborhood in east Dallas. The area is sometimes referred to as ‘Dixon Branch’ because a creek with the same name runs through the area. Lockwood neighbors Lake Park Estates and Old East Highlands communities, and is close to White Rock Lake.

Parks:

White Rock Lake takes the place of more traditional parks in the area of Lochwood, although trees and foliage are prominent along the streets. At White Rock Lake, visitors can use more than nine miles of hiking and biking trails, fish from piers, watch for birds, or visit the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Unfortunately, swimming and boating are not permitted in White Rock Lake. Residents are also afforded the opportunity to relax at White Rock Creek before it widens into White Rock Lake.

Local Events:

Being that Lochwood is a mostly residential neighborhood, there are not a wide variety of local events. Sometimes, events are held at the Lochwood branch of the Dallas Public Library, and there are always events on in downtown Dallas nearby.

Attractions and Shopping:

White Rock Marketplace (formerly Lochwood Shopping Center) is an area shopping anchor for Lochwood residents. The shopping center features retailers like Home Depot, Ross Dress for Less, Marshalls, Sally Beauty, GNC and more. For additional shopping, residents are able to get to downtown Dallas with relative ease because of Lochwood’s close proximity.

Area History and Information:

Lochwood was built mostly after World War II and features one- and two-story Ranch-style homes. The area abounds with natural beauty and includes trees, creeks and greenbelts. Downtown Dallas is about eight miles southwest of Lochwood, so residents looking for more shopping or dining opportunities, or those who commute to work, will find that Lochwood is a nice residential choice.
