Visitors to the area will enjoy the Santa Fe Terminal Complex in addition to the array of government buildings in the area. The complex runs from Young to Commerce Street, and was constructed in 1924 as the headquarters for the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway. It was formerly the southwest’s largest merchandising center. Today, three of the original four buildings exist and have been renovated for various purposes. Two of the buildings, No. 1 and No. 2, were listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
