The Farmers Market District is characterized by the Dallas Farmers Market that was founded in 1939. The market is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and features four sheds with three kinds of sellers: produce dealers, wholesale dealers and local farmers. AREA HISTORY AND INFORMATION

The Farmers Market District takes its name from the presences of the Dallas Farmers Market, a site where farmers have been selling their produce for more than 100 years. As Dallas grew, so did the demand for fresh food. The site of the Dallas Farmers Market was formalized and the first shed was established in 1930. The site was officially sanctioned as a municipally-owned and operated market in December 1941. Since the 1940’s, the current site of the Dallas Farmers Market has matured into its current existence, and the four sheds now welcomes buyers year-round.
