Dallas-based Brinker International has announced its plans to purchase 103 franchised Chili’s Grill and Bar restaurants for $106.5 million. As part of the purchase, the company has also announced plans to implement the Chili’s loyalty program in all of the restaurants it is adding to its portfolio. Brinker International also has plans for a complete re-imaging of the portfolio in an effort to further support its franchise partners in terms of growth and expansion.

Over the past year, the Chili’s Bar and Grill brand has enjoyed increased success. In the third quarter fiscal year 2015, which ended on March 25, the brand earned $784.22 million. This is a significant leap from 2014, at which time the brand earned $759.29 million within the same period of time.

Franchise revenues also increased by 11.9 percent from $20.1 million to $22.5 million for the third quarter of 2015, while franchise sales reached $424 million in sales. By purchasing so many of the restaurants, Brinker anticipates creating additional earnings while also increasing cash flow growth.

Altogether, Chili’s reports that it has 1,600 locations worldwide. 840 of these restaurants are still owned by Chili’s, which is expected to open anywhere from nine to 11 more company-owned restaurants during the fiscal year. The company also expects to see 33 to 35 new franchised locations opened in that same time period.
