His current display, “my shoes, my stove, my life,” will continue to be open to the public for viewing until June 20th. Having opened on May 15th, the exhibit focuses on every day imagery from a new perspective. The solo exhibit is just one example of the many exhibits that the Zhulong Gallery brings to Dallas every year.

Dallas Arts Community Continues to Grow and Provide Greater Offerings

Established in order to draw attention to artists who incorporate the prevalence of technology in their works, exhibits displayed at the Zhulong Gallery feature installation, video, sound, interactive aspects and traditional mediums. Due to the heavy emphasis on technology, many exhibits require the utilization of an audio visual team of professionals who install and monitor the exhibits.

In addition to displaying the works of artists from around the world, the Zhulong Gallery also strives to assist with facilitation artistic collaborations. As such, the gallery is also home to a number of regular exhibiting artists. These include Erika Blumenfield, Lauren Woods, Jeremy Couillard, James Geurts, Renee Cox and Mark Tribe. Tribe’s works focus on where media technology and politics come together, while Couillard focuses on the connection between the virtual and physical worlds.

The “my shoes, my stove, my life” solo exhibition displays the digital works of Luke Dowd on canvas. The London-based artist has also had solo shows in Athens, Cologne, Frankfurt, London and Paris as well as Chicago and New York. His works have also been included in a number of international group exhibitions.

The Zholong Gallery also hosts a variety of special events throughout the year, with the 2015 being its first year to host an annual charity fundraiser. The fundraiser will benefit The Birthday Party Project, which hosts nearly 200 birthday parties for homeless children in the Dallas area each year. The fundraising event, called the Solstice Eve Fete, will take place on June 20th at 7:30 pm. The event will feature a festivus-style feast as well as wine and other refreshments. During the event, guests will also enjoy the new media performance of artist Tiffany Trenda as well as musical selections by Picnictyme. Aura photography and tech-inspired floral crown making will also be included as part of the evening’s activities. The event is free, but cash donations toward The Birthday Party Project will be accepted.

In addition to serving as a charity fundraiser, the Solstice Eve Fete will also mark the closing of the “my shoes, my stove, my life” exhibit. It will also provide interested individuals with the opportunity to learn more about the gallery and its artists.

The Zhulong Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Private viewings may also be scheduled. The gallery is located at 1302 Dragon Street in Dallas, Texas.
