Matchbox Food Group pizza bistro, which is based in Washington, D.C., has announced plans to open its first restaurant in Texas.

Matchbox Food Group

Currently operating five locations in the Washington, D.C. area, Matchbox Food Group was started by four friends nearly a decade ago. The first restaurant, which was opened in D.C’s Chinatown, was hand built by the friends after investing all of their money into the enterprise. Today, the company has six restaurant in operation in the D.C. area. The company has plans to open three more D.C. locations in the next two years, with one located at One Loudoun, another at Potomac Mills and one at Fashion Center. The company has also made plans to open a new restaurant in Florida at the Sawgrass Mill shopping center, which is located near Fort Lauderdale. Ultimately, the company hopes to expand to offer 48 restaurant locations throughout the country by 2020.

In addition to operating the Matchbox Food Group pizza bistros, the company also operates several Ted’s Bulletin locations within the D.C. area. Known for serving breakfast all day, Ted’s Bulletin serves a variety of menu options.

Bringing Matchbox Food Group to North Texas

To expand its operations to Dallas, the Matchbox Food Group has started the process of raising the $20 million necessary to cover the expenses. Tentatively, the new restaurant will be one of eight new locations the restaurant opens in 2016. The new location will be situated in Preston Hollow Village.

Located on a 42-acre tract of land at the intersection of Central Expressway and Walnut Hill Lane, Preston Hollow is a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use development in one of the most upscale areas of Dallas. Encompassing 300,000 square feet of restaurant, retail and office space, the development was one of the most massive undertakings to take place in North Dallas. In addition to the many conveniences and business establishments located within the establishments, plans are also underway to add 1,200 residential units and more than 100 town homes.

Adding the Matchbox Food Group pizza bistro to Preston Hollow Village will help to further expand the expressive range of dining options the area already has to offer. Among these are Blue Sushi Sake Grill, Frost Gelato, Pakpao Thai, and the Modmarket farm fresh eatery. Services such as those provided by Eighteen Eight fine men’s salons, Unit Skin Studio and Venetian Nail Spa are also available, as are businesses such as Orangetheory Fitness and Trader Joe’s.

With all that North Texas has to offer to businesses, it is not much of a surprise that Matchbox Food Group would choose the region as one of its areas for expansion. The Preston Hollow Village where the new restaurant will be located is just one example of the many residential and commercial expansions taking place in the region.
