Five North Texas businesses were recently included in Fortune magazine’s list of the 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials. The publication’s list of workplaces, which was the first of its kind to be compiled by the magazine, ranked national companies based on the quality of experience they provided to young employees.

Chili’s Grill & Bar Ranks as Highest North Texas Company for Millennials

While a North Texas employer did not take the number one spot on the list of 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials, one company did take the number eleven spot. This employer, Chili’s Grill & Bar, is based out of Dallas and owned by the Dallas-based company Brinker International. The company earned the high ranking based on the fact that it regularly recognizes employee achievement. Founded in 1975, the company had $2.8 billion in revenue. In addition, 74 percent of the company’s employees are Millennials.

Receiving Feedback Directly from Millennials

To create its list of the best workplaces for Millennials, Fortune magazine relied heavily on the information gathered by the Great Place to Work’s Trust Index employee surveys. To obtain the information, the research firm surveyed at least 50 employees from 315 companies. Those included in the survey had to meet the requirement of being younger than 35-years-old. Approximately 90,000 people answered the 58 questions they were asked about their workplace experiences.

In conducting the study, the researchers found that Millennials were happiest with companies where they feel they receive a fair share of the company’s profits, are involved in management decisions and are paid fairly for the work they provide. Employers, on the other hand, are interested in hiring Millennials because they feel they bring common sense expectations to the workplace.
