Dallas Offers Plenty of Independence Day Fun in 2015

Are you looking for something fun to do this Fourth of July? If so, there are plenty of Independence Day celebrations taking place in Dallas this year. Whether you are looking for just a great fireworks display or a full day of fun, there is something great to offer in Dallas in 2015.

Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration

Farmers Branch will be providing a free fireworks show accompanied by the Inside Out Band on July 3. The event will also feature a Kidzone area, a historical structure tour and a concession area. The event will also host a pie eating contest with two rounds for adults and one for children. There is a $10 entry fee for the pie eating contest with awards provided to the top three pie eaters at each round. The event takes place at 2540 Farmers Branch Lane in Dallas with gates opening at 6:30 pm.

Fair Park Fourth

The Fair Park Fourth celebration will take place on the Fourth of July from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. Considered to be the city’s official Independence Day celebration, the event is co-sponsored by the City of Dallas, WFAA-TV Channel 8 and Friends of Fair Park. This year, the gates will open at 6:00 am and the event will officially kick off with the Dallas 7/4 race starting at 7:40 am. The Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park will open at 9:00 am and will remain open until 7:30, while the Texas Discovery Gardens will open at 10:00 am and will remain open until 7:00 pm. The State Fair of Texas Midway, which boasts rides, games and concessions, will open at noon and the Dixie Land Band will perform at 4:00 pm. Both the Dallas Wind Symphony and The Beatles Tribute Band A Hard Night’s Day will perform at 7:00 pm. Fireworks will take place at 9:45 pm.

In addition to the scheduled events, many fun activities and shows will also take place throughout the day. Recreational opportunities include paddling a swam boat, taking a tour or riding bike rental. While admission to the Fair Park Fourth celebration is free, there are fees for certain activities and food. There is also a $5 fee to park in the Fair Park Lot. Fair Park is located near Interstate 30 and Highway 75 on the east side of Downtown Dallas at 1300 Robert B. Cullum Boulevard in Dallas.

Old Fashioned Fourth at Dallas Heritage Village

The Dallas Heritage Village will also be hosting its Old Fashioned Fourth celebration on July 4. Taking place from 10:00 am to 3:00 PM with a parade at noon, the event will feature costumed characters bringing the nation’s history to life. All visitors are invited to join in the parade and to play a variety of Victorian era games. The event will also feature musical performances, face painting, wagon rides, a mini checkers tournament and the opportunity to make a patriotic souvenir. Guests are invited to bring picnic baskets to the event. Popcorn, cotton candy and water will also be available for purchase.

The Dallas Heritage Village is located at 1515 S. Harwood Street in Dallas. Admission to the event is $9 per adult, $7 for seniors aged 65 and older and $5 for children ages 4 through 12. Members of the Dallas Heritage Village are admitted for free, while tickets to carnival games are 25 cents each for five for one dollar.
