Do you have a young person in your life who loves to act? Or, perhaps you are simply looking for something fun and meaningful for your child to do this summer. Either way, A Class Act NY has you covered with its special Dallas summer camp programs this summer.
This summer, Manhattan’s award-winning acting studio for kids and teens will once again return to Dallas to offer summer acting classes for kids between the ages of eight and sixteen. Open to kids of all skill levels, the Broadway Bound Camp will be offered first followed by the Thespian Theatre Camp. The Broadway Bound Camp will focus on musical theatre while the Thespian Theatre Camp is a non-musical theatre camp. Both sessions will be taught by actual Broadway performers.
In the Broadway Bound Camp, participants will participate in workshops covering the following topics:
Broadway actors, singers and dancers will work with campers to learn song and dance combinations. Participants will perform what they have learned at the end of the camp session.
In the Thespian Theatre Camp, a Broadway performer will work with participants on scenes and monologues. Workshops that will take place during this camp include:
Just as with the first session, campers will have the opportunity to perform in front of their friends and family.
The Broadway Bound Camp will take place from July 13th through the 17th and the Thespian Theatre Camp will take place July 20th through the 24th. Both sessions take place each day from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. The camp will take place at the JCC of Dallas, which is located at 7900 Northaven Drive in Dallas. The cost of participating in the camp is $550 for one session or $1,000 for both sessions for members. Non-members pay $660 for one session or $1,200 for both sessions.
More formally known as the Jewish Community Center of Dallas, the JCC of Dallas is an institution meant for people of all ages and religious backgrounds to pursue activities to help achieve “wellness in mind, body and spirit.” The center offers a number of facilities for the community to enjoy. Among these are a state-of-the-art fitness center, an aquatics center, an NAEYC-accredited preschool and, of course, a performing arts space. The center also offers a number of events and workshops throughout the year.
The JCC of Dallas is a fine example of the many centers, recreational facilities and entertainment venues that North Dallas has to offer. For parents, the acting classes being offered at the center are among the many opportunities that young people have in the area. The Dallas/Fort Worth region is definitely a great place to grow up or to spread your wings out further as an adult.
